Be the Light

The other day, I was stopped at a traffic light at an intersection downtown Appleton. I had my windows down while I was jam'n to "My Lighthouse" by Rend Collective. As I looked to my left, there was a gentleman on the sidewalk in his mid 60's dancing to my beats right along with me, sending me prayer hands and air hugs with the biggest smile EVER on his face. Everyday I wake up, I want to spread the love of Jesus-everywhere I go! I think of the gentleman from yesterday....maybe he needed that smile, that beat, that vibe. We just never know what others are going through, but we can always know that our smile can turn teardrops to dancing. This lighthouse image was taken on Sunday; Mother's Day. The day was so cold and cloudy. It wasn't my typical Mother's Day celebration with a big gathering at my mom's. It was simple....just my tribe and I, conquering the yucky conditions and loving one another. To me, the lighthouse is symbolic of God's light through the storm. With Him, I will always seek refuge under His wings, thanks to His light. 5/10/2020

5/8/2020 As I went to focus in on the male Cardinal feeding his pretty lady a berry, I completely missed my focus, then the moment was over. As I looked at this image on my computer in utter disappointment from a really neat moment in nature-completely missed in a photograph, I realized that it wasn't the moment missed, rather God just had something different He needed to show me as a visual keepsake. Our world is in a heap of hurt during COVID-19; depression is sinking in at a rapid pace. HOWEVER, when I looked at this picture, greater than two birds being super duper romantic with their feeding, It's obvious the focus hit the leaves budding from the tree instead. Isn't that where the HOPE is right now? NEW LIFE! Our world is about to be restored, and it will be SO MUCH BETTER than it was before. 2 Corinthians 5:17 "...the old things have passed away; behold, NEW THINGS HAVE COME" Psalms 33.3 "Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of JOY." I'm realizing that when I make plans in my heart, it can lead to disappointment, but when I let God lead my steps and my thought process, it's ALL THINGS LOVELY. NEW DAY!

The message of peace, hope, life, and renewal.

1/16/2020 On this particular Thursday morning, it was -11° real feel at 8am. Little did I know, this would be a day that would change my heart forever. I set off on foot into the woods just after sunrise this morning with very little expectation to see a lot of movement in wildlife. Between the creaking boardwalk to scare away almost anything present, and subzero real feel temps to freeze the fingertips at the removal of a glove, it was a "less than ideal" day for photography. But, did you see that sunSHINE? It was glorious and I wasn't going to miss it! This morning was one of those days; feeling so broken, alone, and cold. Within a few minutes of being on the boardwalk, I saw two Mourning Doves on a branch, about 4" apart. I had to stop and take a seat just to say hi. As I sat there, they soon started to move closer together on their branch, until finally they were touching. These sweet birds have a beautiful song that sings the message of peace, hope, life, and renewal. It's not coincidence that these two doves stopped me in my tracks. For me it was a reminder that God is ALWAYS at my side, but sometimes feels so far away. Even when you're feeling all alone, broken, and torn, be reminded that God IS always present and WILL always provide comfort, clarity, and a way.
